Overview
After being awarded the 'Third Class of the Order of the Brilliant Star of Zanzibar, Dr. Manuel Francisco de Albuquerque, the illustrious son of Anjuna, convinced the then Sultan of Zanzibar to construct a replica of the royal palace of Zanzibar in Anjuna. In 1920, construction of the now famous Albuquerque Mansion was completed, and today, almost a century later, it is still popular among locals and tourists alike for the beautiful Mangalore tile rooftop and octagonal towers thank flank the mansion.
