Introduction to Usgalimal

Deep within the lush, verdant forests of Goa, along the serene banks of the Kushavati River, lies a hidden gem that whispers tales of an ancient past – the Usgalimal Rock Engravings. This enchanting site, nestled in the small hamlet of Usgalimal, is a window into a world 20,000 to 30,000 years old. As you walk on the vast, laterite-stone ground, the gentle rustle of leaves and the soft gurgle of the river accompany you to a realm where prehistoric petroglyphs come alive. Here, intricate carvings of animals, humans, and symbols etched by early hunter-gatherer communities tell a story of a long-forgotten era. The air is thick with history, and every step reveals a piece of Goa's rich cultural heritage, inviting you to immerse yourself in the artistry and mystique of this ancient sacred space.
