Introduction to St. Andrew's Church

Nestled in the heart of Vasco Da Gama, Goa, St. Andrew's Church stands as a testament to the region's rich historical and spiritual heritage. Founded by the Jesuits in 1570, this church has endured through centuries, its original structure destroyed by Adil Shah’s soldiers in 1578, only to be reborn in 1594 with a blend of stone, lime, and later, Neo-Gothic architectural flair. As you approach the church, the pure white façade gleams under the Goan sun, while the beautifully maintained grottos with their golden tinge and the marble statue of Our Lady of Fatima create a serene and sacred ambiance. Located just a stone's throw from the Vasco Da Gama Railway Station, this church is a must-visit, especially on November 30th, when the town comes alive to celebrate the feast of St. Andrew, patron saint of fishermen and spinsters. Step inside, and you're enveloped in a world of historical significance and spiritual tranquility, a perfect blend of the past and the present.

Good Service

This church is next-level beautiful The exterior is so classy and blends in perfectly with the downtown vibe. Inside, it's super peaceful with those dark wood pews and stain glass windows 🌟. Perfect spot to chill and reflect. The priest could be friendlier, but overall, great spot to stop by.

Amazing Service

St. Andrew's Church is a serene oasis in the heart of the city. My husband and I attended the 5 PM Saturday mass, and it was incredibly intimate and peaceful. The exceptional stain glass windows and the tranquil atmosphere made for a deeply reflective experience. It's a wonderful place to reconnect and find solace together.

Good Service

St. Andrew's is a great value for its location and beauty. It's tucked away but easy to find, and the architecture is stunning both inside and out. The 5 PM Saturday mass is less crowded, which I appreciated. It's a well-maintained church with a simple yet elegant interior. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area and looking for a peaceful spot without breaking the bank.
