Introduction to Shri Shantadurga Kunkallikarin Temple

Nestled in the serene and picturesque village of Fatorpa in South Goa, the Shri Shantadurga Kunkallikarin Temple stands as a testament to the region's rich cultural and spiritual heritage. This ancient temple, originally from Cuncolim, was relocated in the 16th century to escape the turmoil of Portuguese persecution, finding solace in the tranquil foothills of a mountain chain. The temple's architecture is a stunning blend of traditional and modern elements, with a distinctive pyramidal-shaped roof and an octagonal deepastambha that pierces the sky. As you step into the temple complex, you're enveloped by vibrant flower gardens, meticulously maintained pathways, and the soothing presence of a serene water tank. Inside, intricate wooden carvings, colorful murals, and the elegant idol of Shantadurga, flanked by Vishnu and Shiva, create an atmosphere of reverence and awe, making this temple a must-visit for anyone seeking a deep spiritual and cultural experience in Goa.

Good Service

We visited the Shree Mahalaxmi Temple with our kids, and it was a wonderful experience. The temple is very clean and well-maintained, which is a big plus for families. The stairs can be a bit challenging, but the big hall with huge pillars is great for sitting and praying. There are also shops nearby for Prasad and garlands. Just remember, photography is prohibited inside.
