Introduction to Pilar Seminary Museum

Perched on a hillock, the Pilar Seminary Museum is a treasure trove of Goa's rich and diverse history, nestled in the picturesque village of Goa Velha, just 12 kilometers south of Panjim. As you wind your way up the hill, the landscape unfolds like a canvas of lush coconut groves, serene rice fields, and the glint of the Arabian Sea in the distance. The museum itself is a testament to the communal harmony that defines Goa, housing an array of artifacts that span across Hindu, Buddhist, Jain, Christian, and Islamic traditions.Step inside, and you're greeted by the warm glow of well-lit galleries, each section a window into a different era: from the pre-Portuguese Govapuri to the recent Carmelite collections. The air is thick with the history of stone sculptures, wooden carvings, and handmade manuscripts. Every corner whispers stories of the past, with treasures like gold and silver pieces, ivory artifacts, and rare postage stamps waiting to be discovered. It's a place where the past and present blend seamlessly, offering a panoramic view not just of the landscape, but of the soul of Goa itself.

The view is amazing but the Chapel is definitely worth a visit, it is located right at the top of the mount.
