Introduction to Lamgao Buddhist Caves

Tucked away in the quaint village of Lamgao in Goa's Bicholim district, the Lamgao Buddhist Caves stand as a testament to the region's rich cultural and historical tapestry. Carved out of basalt rock during the 6th to 7th century AD, these ancient caves evoke a sense of timelessness, their intricate architectural details and carvings a silent narrative of the Buddhist monks who once called this place home. As you wander through the pillared halls and chambers, the soft rustle of the surrounding countryside and the dappled light filtering through the carvings create an ethereal ambiance. Each step reveals a new facet of this archaeological gem, from the Brahmi script inscriptions on the walls to the serene tranquility that pervades the entire complex, making the Lamgao Buddhist Caves a hidden treasure waiting to be uncovered.

Good Service

This place has some amazing vibes 🌴 While the Cabo de Rama Cave itself is stunning with those dramatic cliffside views and intriguing rock formations, the real highlight for me was the restaurant on the hilltop near the fort. The food was fire 🔥, and the views while dining were simply breathtaking. Enjoying a delicious meal with the Arabian Sea stretching out before you is just the best. Definitely worth a visit for the food and the scenery!
