Introduction to Church of St. Francis of Assisi

Tucked away in the historic heart of Old Goa, the Church of St. Francis of Assisi stands as a vibrant testament to the region's rich colonial past. This 17th-century marvel, built in 1661, is a masterful blend of Portuguese-Manueline, Baroque, and Corinthian architectural styles. As you approach, the intricate façade, adorned with elaborate floral designs and carvings, comes alive under the Indian sun. Inside, the gilded main altar, adorned with detailed paintings and vibrant frescoes, transports you to an era of grandeur. The adjacent convent, now an archaeological museum, houses a treasure trove of artifacts and sculptures, offering a glimpse into Goa's fascinating history.
