Introduction to Carambolim Lake Migratory Bird Sanctuary

Tucked away in the serene Tiswadi Taluka of North Goa, just a stone's throw from the historic Old Goa and a short drive from the bustling capital of Panaji, lies the enchanting Carambolim Lake Migratory Bird Sanctuary. This man-made freshwater lake, originally crafted for irrigating the surrounding paddy fields, has transformed into a vibrant haven for both resident and migratory birds. As you step into this avian paradise, the air is filled with the melodic calls of cattle egrets, white-breasted water hens, and northern pintails, while the water's surface is adorned with water lilies, Indian marsh snowflakes, and the occasional glide of a bronzed-winged jacana. The lush greenery and marshy lands surrounding the lake create a tranquil retreat, making Carambolim Lake a must-visit for nature lovers and bird enthusiasts seeking a glimpse into Goa's untouched natural beauty.
