Introduction to Baytakhol

Tucked away in the heart of Goa, between the quaint towns of Dhavali and Bori, lies a stretch of road that whispers tales of the supernatural – Baytakhol. This eerie corridor, shrouded in mystery and fear, is not your typical Goan attraction. As the sun dips below the horizon, casting long shadows across the road, Baytakhol transforms into a realm of unexplained occurrences and ghostly apparitions. Drivers navigating this route often report encounters with a mysterious woman, clad in traditional attire, who appears out of nowhere, her screams echoing through the night air as vehicles approach. The air is thick with an unsettling energy, and the silence is punctuated only by the occasional sound of screeching tires and the haunting cries that linger long after you've left the place behind. Amazing Service

Visitors often recount tales of a female hitchhiker who appears on the road, adding to the spooky atmosphere of Baytakhol. I recently went on the Saligao Village Saunter Tour with my parents and tour guide Vaishnavi. It was a very peaceful and relaxing tour, learning more about the village of Saligo where Vaishnavi had grown up. She started off the church and learnt about its history before visiting the graveyard and learning about how the dead are respected and buried. We walked down picturesque paths with paddy fields either side, past little houses painted in beautiful colours before arriving for tea at one of the beautiful period houses. Vaishnavi was charming, interesting and went at a lovely pace.
