What to expect

Early Arrival at Colaba

Reach the jetty near the Gateway of India at your selected time. We strongly recommend starting early, around 08:00 am, to be the first ones on the island.

Meet the Coordinator

Check in with your activity coordinator at the designated jetty to verify your mobile ticket and meet your captain.

Safety Briefing & Life Jackets

Board your private or shared speedboat and receive a short safety briefing. Put on the provided life jacket—safety first!

The High-Speed Crossing

Enjoy a fast and comfortable 20-minute ride across the Mumbai Harbour. Keep an eye out for massive container ships and the city skyline.

Arrival at Elephanta Jetty

The boat docks at the island’s main pier. Since you arrived by speedboat, you’ll notice you've beaten the large ferry crowds.

The Toy Train Ride

Take the optional (and fun) mini toy train from the pier to the base of the hill to save yourself a kilometer of walking.

Ascend to the Caves

Walk up the 120 steps (lined with local souvenir stalls) to reach the cave entrance. If the climb is too much, you can hire a palanquin here.

Explore the Historic Caves

Spend around 2 hours exploring the 7th-century rock-cut temples. Don't miss the massive Trimurti Shiva sculpture in Cave 1.

Return to the Pier

Head back down the hill at your own pace. You can grab a quick snack or a tender coconut from the local stalls before boarding.

Speedboat Return to Gateway

Board your speedboat for the return leg. The experience ends back at the Gateway of India, leaving you the rest of the day to explore South Mumbai.
