Overview

Safa Masjid or Safa Shahouri Mosque is a a significant landmark located at Ponda, Goa, offering a glimpse into the state's rich Islamic heritage. It is a sixteenth century monument and a beautiful example of Indo-Persian architecture with tiled roof structure as main prayer hall along with an water tank adjacent to structure used as wu-du khana and hammams. The mosque has a complex consisting of garden and fountains. The terracotta tile roof accommodates a rectangular prayer hall. Safa Masjid is more than a place of worship; a beautiful testament to the region's cultural heritage. Given its historical significance, it is also an ASI protected Monument of National Importance in Goa.
