Overview

Mae de Deus Church (Church of the Mother of God) is one of the prettiest and historic churches in North Goa and is located in Saligao, Bardez. Among the faithful, the church is known for housing the miraculous statue of Mae de Deus (Mother of God) brought from the ruins of the convent of Mae de Deus at Old Goa. And among tourists, its on their photography bucket list, as the church is set amidst picture perfect settings of Goa’s countryside, boasting Neo-Gothic architecture style. Particularly attractive are its spires and in the evenings, when all lit up, the Mae de Deus Church is an equisitely beautiful sight to see in Goa. The area around the church, along the road, is also quite a foodies' haven, laden with food carts selling Goan as well as popular street food, tender coconut water drinks, nimboo pani (fresh lime juice) and goti soda.
