Overview

The idea for this two-part exhibition came about when an 18th century Belgian bible that is part of the MOCA collection was all set to be digitised. The Bible included a series of beautiful engravings by different artists and it prompted art curator Lina Vincent and museum curator Natasha Fernandes to contemplate coming out with an exhibition around these. However, the pandemic and the subsequent renovations of the museum put pause to these plans. Finally, the plan was put into place last year when they were able to invite some artists to respond to some of these images. Given that it was Christmas season, the images chosen revolved around the birth of Christ and the exhibition.
